Lancashire Hag Stones
Hag stones in Lancashire were traditionally hung above the stable or barn to discourage witches from riding your animals after dark. It’s where the term ‘hag ridden’ is derived from meaning that your animal was too tired to work as it had been used by witches to transport them to their sabbats (or possibly the local Co-op?).
These hag stones are a rare thing indeed. They were purchased from a wise woman in Lancashire. We were told that the area where they were found was Lancashire and Yorkshire and we only have a few. Once they are gone they are gone if we manage to find an any more and considering the last time we found one was 3 years ago it could be a while!
Please note you will be emailed a choice of stones and can pick whichever one you feel you have the most affinity.
Measurements various but all are about palm sized.
